EPA WATER QUALITY PORTAL

What was sampled near this coast — and how old is the result?

Check recent nearby Enterococcus or E. coli sample results from the EPA Water Quality Portal for supported Coast Desks. Sample context only — not a swimming advisory or beach safety grade.

We search a 15-mile radius for nearby Water Quality Portal monitoring locations, preferring coastal/beach-like station names and types. The result is never converted into a swimming-safety verdict.

USE THIS TOOL WELL

Sampling context is not an advisory

This tool shows nearby EPA Water Quality Portal monitoring and recent bacteria sample results. It does not know whether your exact beach is currently posted, closed or open.

Sample ≠ advisory.Monitoring results can be old, offshore, estuarine or otherwise different from your exact beach. For current closures/advisories, check the responsible local health agency and EPA BEACON.
WHAT THIS TOOL IS GOOD FOR

See whether nearby bacteria monitoring exists and when it was last sampled.

The tool searches for Enterococcus first, then E. coli as a fallback. It shows the monitoring location, distance from the Coast Desk anchor, sample age, reported value/unit when available, and the submitting organization.

What it deliberately does not do

  • No green/red swimming verdict.
  • No assumption that one station represents every nearby beach.
  • No assumption that an old sample describes today.
  • No replacement for official advisory/closure programs.
