METHOD GUIDE

How to find the best daylight low tides without scrolling a year of tide tables

A practical way to rank low tides by rarity and daylight instead of hunting manually.

Use high/low predictions

For trip planning, NOAA high/low predictions are compact and easy to compare across a month.

Rank lows only against lows

The engine orders low tides from lowest to highest within the selected period. The most negative or least positive values receive the strongest rarity component.

Overlay sunrise and sunset

Each tide time is compared with calculated local daylight. A very low tide just outside daylight can still be interesting, but it ranks below a similarly low tide during daylight for tidepooling.

Then check ocean conditions

A great low-tide window can coincide with large surf. The astronomical score should be followed by current buoy conditions and official alerts.

Keep access local

Parking, trail closures, protected habitat rules and tidepool etiquette vary by site. CoastEventRadar intentionally does not infer access from a tide station.
